What Is the Reason For This Season?
Have you ever gotten to the end of something and thought, "Thats what this whole thing was about." Someone might be trying to get you to do something. then because you are such an awesome person, you willingly participate. One day like the sun breaking through the clouds you realize, "Oh I see it now, I was being set up for this, and now I am in the middle of a big messy drama."
Sometimes we just don't understand certain situations and then the light shines and you understand that larger wheels are turning and a greater understanding comes to you.
Jesus told His disciples after He had triumphantly entered Jerusalem, folks loved him and people praised, "Blessed is He that comes in the Name of the Lord". This transpired mere days before He was to be crucified. Later, Jesus was troubled about what he new was about to happen to Him and asked, "Should I ask that I be saved from this hour? "This is why I came into the world."
I am not certain that the disciples ever really understood, when Jesus told them He was going to go the Jerusalem and die. It was for this cause that I am at this place during this hour. What cause? Jesus told them, If I be lifted up from the earth I will draw all men unto me" Jesus was trying to explain to them the way that He would die lifted up from the earth. On a cross, like a cursed criminal.
So as we celebrate the Christmas season thinking of a poor baby lying in a smelly hay filled feed trough. We can focus on the prophecies and the extremely unlikely fulfillment of them all in one little baby, or within the life of one man and be amazed.
Or we can try to look at the larger picture. Let the light shine on your understanding, that the infant in the manger actually came to earth to die for our sins and to be our savior...I mean my savior.
Every single one of us need to embrace the, entire, life of Jesus and take hold of the wonderful gift that we were given not only in a manger, but the wonderful plan that led this man to a cross at calvary. Embrace and take hold of the forgiveness of your sins.
This baby lamb, born in Bethlehem, grew to become the lamb sacrificed for your sins.
That, my friend, is the reason for this Season.
