Have you ever been asked a question and the first sound from your mouth was an almost groan like, throaty sound, that came out as, UM??
I know sometimes we say that word or make that sound, because we are, thinking. We are not sure just how to answer a question, or respond to a situation, so we utter, "UM". Other times we are a little afraid, and we are simply trying to buy some time so we can come up with some sort of, group correct, response.
Other times the sound masks the confusion we feel. We just don't know. I think it is time for us as Christians, to leave that place of confusion and the state of, "confoundedness", (is that a real word? Hey, you heard it first here). Paul told the Corinthians, that God is not the author of confusion. Peter tells us that he that believes on Jesus will not be confounded. Our Christianity should be a "No UM?? zone".
1 Peter 2:6 ...and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
KJV: "confounded" ESV: "not be put to shame" LITV: "not be ashamed, never!"
Paul said, "I am not ashamed of the Gospel." Paul was not confused or fearful of who he was and what Christ was doing through him. He was confident, not confused.
It is time for us to leave the insecurity of our feelings, and be confident in Christ, and what He has done for us. We can stand up unashamed, as people of God.
1 Peter 3:15
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you...
Be ready to answer, any one who asks, "Why are you so different?" Don't say UM?? Confidently tell them about your relationship with Jesus.
